Nvidia is issuing a voluntary recall for its Shield Tablet due to the company learning its battery can overheat to the point where it could pose a fire hazard.

The Nvidia Shield Tablets the company is recalling were sold between July 2014 and July 2015. If you own a Shield Tablet that was purchased between those dates, Nvidia asks you to visit  www.nvidia.com/support/tabletrecall for information on how to obtain a replacement, less fire hazard-y device.

In the meantime, Nvidia is asking its customers to stop using the recalled Shield Tablet except as needed in order to participate in the recall and backup of data. Once consumers have registered their device, they’ll receive a new tablet, although Nvidia doesn’t say how long it’ll take to receive it.

Probably just an insurance write off, but it may hurt stocks if someone actually gets hurt and sues them

Damnit, says they will take 2 - 4 weeks to ship.

Pretty annoyed as I've only had it a month or so and now I'm not meant to use it until they sort this shit out *sigh*
