'Red Ash' Looks like the Mega Man Legends Sequel We Never Got
Mega Man Legends creator Keiji Inafune has unveiled a new game that looks suspiciously similar to Mega Man Legends. Where have we heard this before?
Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune's new studio dropped a trailer today, which seems not-at-all-subtly reminiscent of Mega Man Legends.
The game is titled Red Ash. The brief concept trailer just shows off some character art and voices, but that's certainly enough to see the similarities. From the three lead characters bearing a striking resemblance to Mega Man, Teisel Bonne, and Roll from the MML series, to an enemy robot that looks just like a Reaver, to assorted environment artwork that looks like old ruins, to a brief glimpse of a character with an emblem like Tron Bonne. It even shows a truck for a split-second labeled "TB Company."
The trailer promises more details at Anime Expo this weekend. Until then, watch the trailer below and have a chuckle at the audaciousness of it all.
Inafune left Capcom in 2010, after years of criticizing the Japanese game industry. Shortly after, he announced his own new development studio, and then went to crowd-funding for Mighty No. 9, a game that bears more than a passing resemblance to the original Mega Man games. It's set to release in September. The last fans heard from Mega Man Legends was when Capcom cancelled Mega Man Legends 3.
