The PlayStation Network went down just a few days ago due to “factors external,” but Sony scheduled a routine maintenance to take place later this evening starting at 9:30pm PDT.

The maintenance is expected to take place for approximately 1 ½ hours and will affect the Account Management, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Store. Those who have a PlayStation Network account will still be able to sign in to their PSN profile, play games, and use most applications while the maintenance is performed.

If you’re planning on doing any gaming later tonight, you shouldn’t run into any issues, so don’t start freaking out on us prior to the start of this maintenance. We’ll all make it out of the other side of the 1 ½ hour period together in one piece. So long as you avoid Account Manager, PlayStation Video, and don’t attempt to purchase anything on the PlayStation Store.
