Splatoon update coming next week to fix Splatfest and nerf weapons, abilities
Nintendo will be releasing an update to Splatoon next week that will improve Splatfest as well as reduce the power of a weapons and some abilities.
Splatoon will be receiving an update next week that will make some tweaks to various weapons, ability strengths, and matchmaking issues for the upcoming Splatfest.
The full patch notes comes from the Japanese Splatoon website, but a number of Reddit users have translated it while we wait for an official translation from Nintendo. Some of the most notable changes includes reducing the power of the Kraken special weapon and the following abilities: Ninja Squid, Inkstrike, and Ink Resistance.
Nintendo will also be making some changes to Splatfest, specifically making it possible for players to face off with a supporting Splatfest team if you’re not paired against one within the time limit. The first Splatfest will be taking place on July 4, or at least we’re hoping it will considering the last scheduled Splatfest was delayed due to technical reasons.
Here’s the full patch notes for Splatoon 1.3.0, which again, has been translated from its original Japanese text:
Splatoon Version 1.3.0 Update Details
Splatfest:
- During matchmaking, if you aren’t paired against an opposing Splatfest team and time runs out, you may be matched with a supporting Splatfest team instead.
- Splatfest points will still be awarded if you face a supporting Splatfest team.
- Only points from games against opposing Splatfest teams will count towards the final Splatfest result.
- Players may be able to join a Splatfest game up to five minutes before the official start time.
- This is to decrease server congestion during the start time.
