Bungie and Activision have announced a partnership with Red Bull that will give Destiny players access to an exclusive quest and in-game rewards so long as they purchase custom-designed cans.

Activision and Bungie have announced a special partnership with Red Bull that will reward Destiny players with in-game rewards and access to an exclusive quest.

Guardians need to head into the real world to find custom-designed Red Bull Energy Drink cans that will allow them to take part in a new quest. The cans will also include bonus XP to help those who plan on picking up The Taken King better prepare themselves over the summer. The Red Bull exclusive quest will become available shortly after the launch of The Taken King on September 15 for those with Red Bull cans, while the rest will have to wait for it to become available sometime after January 1, 2016.

The custom-designed Red Bull cans will become available exclusively across 7-Eleven stores next month and will get a full retail roll out in August. Destiny-branded 4-packs of Red Bull will be available exclusively at Walmart which will contain a Mega XP Accelerator.

The partnership with Red Bull doesn't come as a big surprise considering its existence leaked earlier this month, which also leaked the name of the new DLC for Destiny, The Taken King.

Bungie recently came under fire regarding the pricing to The Taken King, which they defended as being appropriately priced due to the company feeling it was delivering a "major expansion." Between that and this exclusive partnership with Red Bull, we wouldn't blame Destiny fans to be even more agitated with Bungie's recent business practices.

Fuck that's pretty shitty, but an xp bonus with new subclasses being unlocked would be very nice.

Not having to grind like a motherfucker would also be nice.

The grind has been greatly reduced. You can exchange shards for energy, energy for shards, shards / energy for motes and Glimmer. Materials to level guns are easy to get using bounties or buying them w/ marks.

I'm talking about class leveling, which I don't think they've touched ever. It takes quite a long time to fully unlock a subclass. Equipment grinding is a whole other beast and it still sucks on newly-acquired legacy equipment.

Leveling characters and weapons is just about doing the daily bounties.

I've start a new titan in the last month and had him at 32 in like 2 days of playing by just doing the story and random fast bounties. Got him to 34 like 1 day later by running PoE and buying / upgrading armor. Fully maxing a subclass takes a bit longer but if you are leveling weapons with bounties then you are leveling subclasses too.

As for legacy weapons, I leveled a last word from no levels to max by passing it between my 3 characters and just doing like 10 or so bounties on each of them and using the weapon telemetries that give you extra XP for that weapon type when you turn said bounties in. It probably took me 2.5 hours or so.

Not seeing the problem with this.

Haven't CoD and Battlefield had something similar for years?

If it were just XP boosts, I wouldn't have an issue with it. Locking players out of a quest seems shitty, but I guess it'll eventually be available to everyone.

A quest which was likely developed with funding that came from the partnership in the first place.

Wow, the extreme monetization of games is getting pretty brazen these days, huh?

I feel like this is almost disrespectful to the customer.

We're not paying to be advertised to. We're paying to be entertained. Insanity.

Don't they make a sugar free red bull? I'm sure they do.

Adderall and cocain are both controlled substances. Adderall has shitty side effects too.

I can't wait for Destiny Dorito adventures and the upcoming tie in with Temple Run to earn much-needed agility upgrades. After that will be My Little Pony Guardians, a fantastical crossover with the world's most beloved horses must battle against an ancient dark evil. And all of this will culminate in the Destiny Oreo Trivial Pursuit Challenge where you must collect Trivial Pursuit rewards from specially-marked Oreo containers to identify the truth behind The Speaker and acquire the Oreo-branded Destiny sparrow that is the only way to travel to the final chest in the Vault of Glass.
