Slightly Mad Studios announces Project Cars 2

It's been less than two months since the original Project Cars was released, but Slightly Mad Studios is already working on the sequel.

It took a massive Kickstarter and several delays, but earlier this year, Project Cars arrived on PC and consoles. But it's taken far less time for Slightly Mad Studios to announce that a sequel is already planned.

Project Cars 2 will build upon the foundation set by the first game. It will feature over 200 courses across 50 locations, which will include racing atop different surfaces like dirt, mud, and snow. Over 200 cars will be available across 40 different vehicle classes, all playable over the course of a co-op career.

No word on a release window or supported platforms for Project Cars 2 at this time. For more information on Project Cars 2, be sure to visit the Project Cars website. Those looking to support the game can, once again, go the crowdfunding route by taking a look at the five membership tiers.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Uhh... didn't they claim they'll support Project Cars (1) with free updates for a while? Seems strange that they're already jumping on a sequel.

They announced a plan called "on demand" or something to support pcars 1 with updates and content for the next 1-2 years. They just posted videos on an update to improve weather effects in pcars 1.

They did and they will. Most of the developers are still working on PCars1 updates and content. They just have their main tech developers (physics etc) working on core improvements and feature for the next game. It's mostly R&D at this point.

        One such feature:
"We're planning fully deformable physically based surfaces with multiple levels of deformity."

I don't think this is going to sit very well with the gaming community. Just a guess.

This game was a disappointment. PS4 has a surprising lack of good racing games.

Ya, to be fair, it's not like I went full sim warrior, but I did give it a good amount of time before I gave up.

Codemasters need to bring Dirt: Rally out on PS4. The upcoming F1 2015 seems to be a disaster, but Dirt: Rally could sell well.

I just wish it performed better on amd. I have to turn of way to much stuff to get good fps in the rain. Been playing dirt rally because it runs crazy fast.

I bought into PCARS for $15 USD then bumped it up to about $40 once I tried it.
