PlayStation 4 with 1TB hard drive releasing July in Europe
The previously-leaked PlayStation 4 1TB bundle has been revealed, although it will only be available in Europe next month.
Sony has announced it will be releasing a new PlayStation 4 bundle that features a 1TB hard drive.
The new bundle is called the Ultimate Played 1TB Edition and will be available starting July 15, although as of now, it’s only coming to select Europe and PAL territories. There’s been no official confirmation from Sony of its release in the US, although we have a feeling it’ll only be a matter of time until North America gets a similar bundle.
A 1TB hard drive isn’t the only change in the Ultimate Player Edition bundle as the PlayStation 4 is also ten percent lighter, weighing in at 2.5 kg, and uses eight percent less energy. There’s also a slight aesthetic change as the hard drive bay cover has a matte finish.
Earlier this month, we learned of a PlayStation 4 with a 1TB hard drive included thanks to the FCC leaking its existence. The leak was spot on about its new weight as well as energy usage.
While we'd like for North America to get in on the 1TB action, it really isn't that difficult to upgrade the PlayStation 4's hard drive. Many of us on staff have swapped out our internal drive shortly after receiving our consoles, and it was a completely painless experience as long as you follow Sony's directions.
