E3 2015: Dishonored 2 Announced, Featuring Emily Kaldwin

Bethesda has announced a sequel to their highly underrated game Dishonored.

During today's Bethesda E3 conference, Bethesda Software announced an upcoming sequel to Dishonored. The empire of the Isles is in danger once more by a userper. You travel to Cornaca to assassinate targets, and you can switch between playing as Emily Kaldwin (who is supposed to be Empress by now) or Corvo. Not only does it look like Emily has the same agility as Corvo, but she bears the mark that grants her special powers. As in the previous Dishonored game, players can choose to either kill everyone in sight, or not to kill anyone - usually dooming targets to a fate worse than death. It remains to be seen what leads Emily to take up the path of the supernatural assassin.

Dishonored 2 is being developed for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Accompanying the reveal is the announcement of Dishonored Definitive Edition, which is expected to release this fall for the Xbox One and PS4. The Definitive Edition will include the main game along with all its add-on content, all with remastered content.

Couldn’t get into the first one - also the character design seems jarring

More excited for this than Doom or Fallout. I love how unique the world is and the 100% no kills-sightings option. Playing as Emily looks like it's going to be incredible fun too. I know that was pre-rendered, but I love the look of the new city, keeping the style of the old but with new character designs and... UUUNNNFFFFFF.

Not necessarily more, but definitely on the same level. The original Dishonored delivered exactly what the new Thief didn't, and I can't wait to get more of it.

Between this and DX:HR, I'm a very happy boy this year.

Agree, a full no kills/sightings playthrough is one of my favourite gaming moments. So challenging, but you feel SO FUCKING SMART AND AWESOME.

It sucks that you don't play as Emily the entire game. Character switching has a place but I feel like it would only spoil the immersion in one of these grand world-building titles. Still, they might have a broken chronology or something that makes switching between the two make much more sense in context.

It's set 15 years later. No word on whether you can play either character for each mission (assuming it's still missions) or if it's pre-determined on a per mission basis. The latter might make sense for story/VO reasons, but the other route isn't impossible to put together.

I thought you chose your hero the entire way through? At least that's how I understood it.

You can choose to play either character the whole time IIRC

At the start of the game, or per-mission? Because the latter would be a nice effort for them to go to!
