Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice heats up 3DS for the holidays
Sonic Boom will return this year, with Sega announcing a new 3DS installment set to hit this holiday called Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.
Last year, Sega reimagined the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for a newer generation, launching Sonic Boom on Wii U and 3DS. The results were... less than anyone had hoped. That's not stopping Sega from trying again, though. Sonic Boom will return this year with a new handheld installment for 3DS called Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice.
Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will come from Sanzaru Games, who most recently put out last year's Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal on 3DS (which also did not fare well). The story will follow the ongoing story of the Sonic Boom-verse, as seen on the Cartoon Network television show (which also... well, no, that one's actually alright), and see Sonic and company take on Dr. Eggman, as well as a new villain called D-Fekt. The game will utilize fire and ice elements, which will be on display through a series of new character moves and environmental interactions. In addition to the adventure, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will also include a Bot Racing mode, in which players can take character bots unlocked in the single-player adventure and challenge their friends to races across various tracks.
Look for Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice to hit Nintendo 3DS around the holiday season. For more, check out the trailer.
