Frictional Games has been aching to scare the living daylights out of its audience again. The makers of the Amnesia series of games have announced the release date for their next effort. SOMA is set to release on September 22 and Frictional has released a new gameplay video to go along with that announcement.

SOMA is a sci-fi horror tale that follows a trapped scientist aboard the PATHOS-2 research facility. All communication has gone dark, with the facility's staff disappearing and turning up dead. Meanwhile, the machines have started acting strangely, displaying human behavior. Frictional's newest video offers a 12-minute glimpse at the world players are about to step into, with much of the atmospheric tension that the studio has become recognized for.

SOMA is set to release on PC and PlayStation 4.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
