StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void's new unit hailed as Liberator
StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void's latest beta update has introduced a new Terran unit, a terror of the skies known as the Liberator.
The battle is just beginning in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void, but the number of units is starting to increase. Today, Blizzard unveiled the game's newest Terran unit, a massive air vessel called the Liberator.
"The Liberator is a large, high-cost air unit that deals splash damage against its enemies in the sky," explains the Battle.net post. "The Liberator normally can't attack ground, but it can target a specific ground area in order to deal high burst single-target damage to any unit entering that area. This ground attack only targets units, so structures can’t be hit with this weapon."
The Liberator will act a more rounded air unit to go along with some of the changes to the Legacy of the Void beta. Blizzard is aiming for diverse strategies with the addition of this unit and will be examining player strategies closely. For a better idea of how the Liberator unit works, check out the video below.

Starcraft 2 released in 2010, HotS 3 years later, Void most likely 3 years after HotS.
They are just releasing content for SC2 out of obligation above all else. The sales figures can't be steady, the entire focus is on competetive PvP, a toy to wave around at tourneys; the casual crowd isn't touching it, twitch stream numbers have steadily declined over the last 2 years.. If they didn't have WoW as cash-cow they could not have been able to afford beta'ing content for a year, cutting out units...
I like the RTS genre but the mainstream market is dead and fans are relegated to titles like the Men of War series for actual new features and the odd Total War, as long as its not a rehash of their last game which could have been better as an addon, rather than a standalone full-priced title (Atilla), or if its not buggy as heck (Rome wasn't patched in a day, after all).
The next glimmer on the horizon will be the warhammer fantasy total war game, if they learn from their mistakes and until then I'll go pick up helmets and ammo from corpses for my Assault Squads.-
SC2 tournaments still do well enough, I've seen the WCS streams get up around 40k viewers recently which is far from dead. One of the problems is that hots wasn't a very good game and it led to boring matches. Hopefully LoTV has longer legs and I could see archon mode becoming an attraction as well.

You sure you want to compare sales data of Sc2 + expansions to those games ?
