Ultra Street Fighter 4 hits PS4 next week with PS3 arcade stick compatibility
Ultra Street Fighter IV will arrive on PlayStation 4 next week, but it won't be the exact same PS3 version. It'll be faster and stronger, but will also allow PS3 users to bring their arcade sticks for the ride.
While Street Fighter 5 continues to shuffle towards its eventual debut, the current hotness for Capcom remains Ultra Street Fighter IV. The game is set to make its PlayStation 4 debut next week, an announcement that may have initially chagrined a few fighting game fans. The main reason, of course, is the ongoing issue that hardware (mainly arcade sticks) is not backwards compatible. However, Capcom has a solution in place.
Remember when the folks at Lab Zero (makers of Skullgirls Encore) created a custom USB driver that would allow PS3 arcade sticks to work on a PS4? According to PlayStation.Blog, Capcom has adopted this method for Ultra Street Fighter IV, meaning all PS3 arcade sticks will be usable. Definitely a good thing for both casual fans and professional fighters that are preparing for Evo in July, where the Ultra Street Fighter IV tournament will run on this very PS4 version of the game.
Look for the PS4 version of Ultra Street Fighter IV to also include all previously-released costume DLC, as well as improved resolution and fixes in input lag. The game will arrive on Tuesday for a slightly lower-than-average $24.99.
