"WHEN'S MAHVEL?"

That phrase has almost become commonplace in the fighting game community. It's the universal exclamation for more Marvel vs. Capcom. What started out as a simple crossover between the rosters of the X-Men and Street Fighter franchises quickly ballooned to encompass the full umbrella of Marvel Comics and Capcom.

For this week's Shack's Arcade Corner, Greg Burke discusses the first of the expanded crossovers, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes. In addition to some new fighters like War Machine, Venom, and Mega Man, this was also the only game in the "Vs." series to feature dedicated assist characters that were chosen at random prior to any fight. These assist characters would mostly consist of more ancillary characters, though Thor and Arthur would eventually grow to become playable characters in later series installments.
