Some are dismissing virtual reality as a fad. A passing trend that will simply fade in the coming years. Sony is not seeing it this way. They see longevity in virtual reality and that's why they envision success for their entry into the VR world: Project Morpheus.

"VR, you think it's solo, because you're inside of a headset," Project Morpheus creator Richard Marks tells Shacknews. "But actually, we changed the design of ours so you can look outside of the headset very easily now. Also, we're really looking into how you can have VR be more social. You can do it online, actually, and seeing someone in the same space as you in VR, you can have a very personal experience."

Marks and Sony Computer Entertainment president Shuhei Yoshida go on to discuss the potential variety in virtual reality games, where controllers fit (or don't fit) into the virtual reality landscape, and how VR will grow in the near future. For the full interview, check out the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
