Fantasy Life 2 is headed to iOS and Android instead of Nintendo 3DS

The sequel to Level-5's Fantasy Life will be available on mobile devices in Japan this summer, and not on the Nintendo 3DS.

Level-5 has announced it is currently working on Fantasy Life 2: Two Moons and the Village of God, but it won’t be available on the Nintendo 3DS like its predecessor. Instead, Fantasy Life 2 will be headed to iOS and Android devices in Japan this summer.

The original Fantasy Life was a popular Nintendo 3DS game that allowed players to live out a number of different professions inside of an RPG. Fantasy Life 2 will offer similar gameplay mechanics as it’ll feature 12 Lifes, but will include a town-building feature called Village, which allows players to ability the collect villagers.

After Nintendo recently partnered with DeNA to create games based on its games, it’s interesting to see Level-5 announce a game that was originally published on the 3DS will have its sequel published on mobile devices. This should help spread the popularity of Fantasy Life to more players, although it has us wondering what other games will have their sequels make the jump to mobile.

Makes sense. It's not like any of the gameplay was particularly intense, so it should work fine on mobile, and it totally felt like a game that would suit phones when I was playing it.

That said, it's just one more reason I keep eyeing my 3DS and wondering why I still have it. I guess BD2 and FE are the only reasons at this point.

Going to assume BD2 and FE = Bravely Default 2 and Fire Emblem, at which point I have to agree. I love my 3DS for the Zelda games that they've brought to it now, but it does make me wonder why I still have the thing, since I rarely touch it anymore. :/
