New Mortal Kombat X trailer showcases Goro's devastating attacks
Goro is making his triumphant return to Mortal Kombat X, and he's as brutal as ever.
NetherRealm Studios promised we’d be seeing a new gameplay trailer starring everyone’s favorite lovable half-human, half-dragon Goro, over the weekend. The developer of Mortal Kombat X stayed true to their promise, and as you’d expect, the gameplay trailer showcases some of Goro’s brutal attacks.
Goro’s trailer shows off some of his four-handed attacks as he mercilessly pummels his opponents, and burns them to a crisp using his fire-based attacks. And what would a gameplay trailer be without a taste of one of Goro’s fatalities. And, boy - it does not disappoint.
Mortal Kombat X will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 14.

It should be noted that as of now Goro is still a pre-order exclusive character.
We assume that he will be avaiable for purchase at some point after launch but for launch he's for pre-orders only.
With that in mind I find it in bad taste how much emphasis they've put on him with their marketing up until this point. They did a Twitch "preview" stream a few days ago where the developer played as nothing but various Goro variations for the entirety of the stream (and stomped the fuck out of everyone else in the process).
I already find tying playable characters to pre-orders distasteful (and moved this game from a probably buy to a probably won't) but to then go on and make that playable an integral part of marketing is just dirty. A lot of people don't pre-order games and are likely to be very disappointed when they buy the game soon after launch only to find that they can't access the most highly advertised character.

Well Goro is free $0 you just have to pre order the game at normal price.
There is no other fighter to date that comes close to MKX in content and quality so I think its not a big deal to show support like we do for other games.
But that is up to you of course I just don't see the big deal compared to other games pre order schemes compared to MKX its at the lowest scale of screwing the customer compared to others.-
But I don't want to buy it on day one. I want to read reviews of it before I buy it. Reviews of what it actually plays like when everyone is playing it, not previews. So I can either wait to be properly informed on the quality of the product, OR I can get the whole game. In conclusion: fuck preorders, fuck preorder exclusives, and fuck this game.

while i am not a fan of this practice in the least, Netherealm has a pretty good track record lately and this look to be their best yet. its a fighting game from the Netherealm, its pretty much a known quantity at this point. If you have liked what they have done in the past, there is no reason for you not to think this game will be similar and so if you want it, pre order it.
Honestly the only thing I would have any reservations about would be the online functionality, but even that wouldnt be enough for me to skip this game. if it is for you, then wait for reviews and pay an extra 5-6$ for goro after launch.

Exactly ^^^^ I don't understand why people don't understand this??? And I don't know why there is a double standard for other schemes, games and incentives.
Like people have no issues be in pre purchasing concept space ships for hundreds to thousands of dollars in order to get a exclusive lifetime insurance on their bought space ships as one example of a pre order incentive.
I don't think many really understand that a game that took years to make with a large staff of highly skilled individuals that have large salaries ends up selling for only $59.99 @ full price is really a joke if you think about it. Having said that if you then have the majority buy second hand or wait for a sales that cuts that price again it really starts to add up and hurts any company.
I buy a lot of games and it has cost me a lot over the years but I really think not many step back and realise that something so complicated that take years and is a piece of art made by highly skilled individuals is practically one of the cheapest things you can buy for what it is.
A video game after all these years of hard work is still today as it was back in the day $59.99 @ full price it really is INSANE if you stop and think about it.
Anyways I appreciate all the hard work that goes into games for I have felt the pain first hand and it is freaking brutal.
I really don't think optional pre orders are a bad thing if you look at the big picture, sure exclusive content locking sucks but what is a game company to do as a alternative? that is the big question and I love to here a solution? it be cool if there is one but I doubt it.-

I am not talking about Shacknews specifically at all I mean in general when I say "people" aka all gamers as a whole. Go on the net to other sites and see how bad MKX and Evolve got shit on for pre orders stuff but those sites and gamers never bitched or shit on other games and schemes which to me makes no sense.
And to be clear I don't like pre order exclusives either I am not saying they own at all(I 100% understand why they are done though), but it bothers me when there are double standards and some stuff gets shit on and others do not.
Nothing is going to change that anyways it is a lost cause people got to find something to shit and you never know what is it going to be next.

Bottom line pre orders suck for the cases when the game sucks, I don't think big companies will ever ditch them and just trust their product owns and leave it at that which sucks :(
What can you do man I wish they come up with a better way, all I can think of is all pre orders digital get a few hours to try on the initial play and allow a full refund if you don't like it. So this way you don't miss out on exclusives but at the same time if the game sucks then tell them "fuck you" and get your money back.
I think that work really well you would have to adjust the time limit just right like two hours or less that would probably be good, just make sure its not be abused. Don't know could work.

Yeah gaming is more affordable than ever honestly. I can see how some people are turned off by the practice, but it does make sense to encourage people to buy the game early.
They could easily shift the promo period to the first week it is out (you get Goro if you
Buy within first 7 days it is out). Then at least people can read reviews before purchasing, and they encourage people to buy before any discounts. I think this would make sense for a game like MKX, which is almost assured to be a good game given NetherRealm's track record.

Awesome. I am glad I pre ordered my copy, and really out of all the games I pre ordered this was no brainier and the easiest pre order I didn't think at all the game is so damn good.
I don't know any other fighter to date that can even come close to the quality, content, polish, graphics, sound and gameplay that MKX has achieved it is truly monumental.
Having said that I don't think its a big deal to support nether realms at no extra cost but just to pre order and buy a game before its out for what will be the best fighter to date in order to get a optional pre order character.-
