The April 1 Nintendo Direct kicked off with a reminder that yes, Mewtwo is on his way to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. The presentation opened with a trailer for the genetically enhanced Pokemon, revealing many of his classic moves from Super Smash Bros. Melee, along with some new tricks. But he's not the only one joining the battle.

Lucas from the Mother series will also return from Super Smash Bros. Brawl as the next DLC character. Lucas is estimated to release in June. Nintendo is turning to the fans for future DLC characters by opening the new Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot, a website that solicits fan feedback for new characters.

Satoru Iwata noted that Mewtwo took some time to design, but added that he's ready to go and he will be ready on April 28 for $3.99 for one version or $4.99 for both. Club Nintendo members that registered their copies of both Smash Bros. games before yesterday, however, will receive a download code on April 15 to get him two weeks early. Mewtwo will arrive alongside version 1.0.6, which will add compatibility with the new character, sharing functionality, as well as character balances. The patch will arrive on April 15 for both games.

Iwata also detailed some of the new cosmetic DLC set to come to Super Smash Bros. soon. Items like the Super Mario 3D World cat suits and Mega Man armor will be available for purchase to deck out your Mii Fighter. Series costumes revealed hailed from a number of series, including The Legend of Zelda, Xenoblade Chronicles, Mega Man X, and Mega Man. The first wave of costume DLC will include a Smash Bros. T-Shirt, a Cat Suit, a Link Outfit, X's Armor, a Dunban Outfit, a Monkey Suit, Majora's Mask, and Proto Man Armor. They'll be available for 75 cents each for one version or $1.15 each for both versions and arrive on April 15. The full bundle can be purchased for $6 on one version or $9.20 for both.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
