Expect two more years of Payday 2 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One
Overkill has signed a deal with 505 Games to deliver two more years of content for Payday 2. You hear that? It's the hype train a-comin'!
Overkill has announced Payday 2 players can expect support from the development studio for two more years with a combination of free updates, paid downloadable content, and campaigns.
The extension in support for Payday 2 has been made possible through a deal Overkill has made with its publishing partner, 505 Games. The agreement covers an additional 24 months starting April 1, 2015 and will support PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions of Payday 2.
“We will yet again see the PAYDAY franchise being expanded with more heists, weapons, characters and even new game modes such as driving car.” said Starbreeze AB chairman Michael Hjorth. “ PAYDAY as a franchise is here to stay and with it we are building a solid financial foundation for the company for years to come.”
Payday 2 was originally released back in August 2013, so it's already had quite the track record as it will soon be entering its second year. Today's announcement will certainly keep the Payday 2 hype train rolling for quite some time, and with the upcoming Crimewave Edition, even more players will soon be able to carry out hesits on their current-gen platform of choice. as much as I enjoy Payday, that engine is already creaking at the seams. It looks fairly ugly, stealth is half-baked, the netcode is atrocious and they've pretty much reached the limits of what it's capable of in terms of gameplay mechanics.
I'm all for another two years of support but not if it's two years of alternately drill defending and ECM rushing. -
