Rise of the Triad free on GOG Today; Will Soon Get Steam Crossplay
GOG.com and Apogee Software announced that it will be giving away 30,000 copies of Rise of the Triad (2013) later today, and that GOG and Steam players will soon be able to face off against each other.
GOG.com and Apogee will be giving away 30,000 copies of the retro-themed shooter classic, Rise of the Triad (2013), later today starting 12:00 PM EDT (9:00 AM PDT). But it's first come, first serve, so log on quickly if you want to score yourself a free copy. Once all copies are given away, the game will go on sale with an 80 percent discount, and join a number of other games in the Silver Bullets list - weekly picks from the GOG.com editors.
However, the Good Old Games news doesn't end there. Rise of the Triad will soon be getting a big technical update, hinting that GOG players will soon be able to face-off against Steam players. A not-so-subtle indication that Rise of the Triad will soon have GOG Galaxy support, which bridges multiplayer across different platforms.
Other games featured on the Silver Bullets list this week include Unreal Tournament 2004, Sin Gold, and Aliens vs Predator Classic 2000.
