HBO Go available on PlayStation 4 later today

PlayStation 4 owners will finally be able to watch their favorite HBO programming any time they like now that HBO Go is being released.

PlayStation 4 owners will finally be able to access HBO Go as Sony has announced the console’s official app will be made available to download later today.

PlayStation 3 owners who used the HBO Go app will feel right at home with this version as it contains the same functions. HBO subscribers will need to input their current cable or satellite service information through HBOGO.com/activate, and once you put in your friend’s… I mean, your own login information, you’ll be set to watch all content that’s included in the HBO Go service.

Of *course*. They can't even get all the HBO shows on HBO in Canada, let alone a streaming service.

In before some WWE Network-like horsefuckery introduced.

And it *still* doesn't work with Comcast.

      Goddammit.

Well, I just checked it on the HBO site, and Comcast is still not listed for PS3 or PS4.

I don't know why people were expecting otherwise when it's been like that for PS3 since day one.

I guess I hoped that releasing on a new platform might mean someone bothers to shoot an e-mail to one of the largest cable providers and see if they're still being colossal douchebags about access.

True. It's been like this for years.

I still don't fully understand the point of HBO Go.If you are sitting in front of your TV,where your cable box already is,then the app is pretty useless.

I guess the only real reason to have it is if you at someone's house that has a PS4,but not HBO,and even then, most people,if not everyone that has HBO also have some sort of DVR or On Demand.

I'll just wait for HBO's stand alone service, which should pretty much render this app completely useless.

People share accounts... So and HBO really didn't seem to care.

HBO Go has a ton more content than HBO or HBO on-demand via a set top box. There are lots more movies available and you can watch any episode of any show they've ever made- including comedy specials, documentaries, and HBO films.

And the app won't be useless. Their standalone service will most likely be access to the app or hbogo.com without the current requirement of a cable TV subscription.

I don't think so.I'm pretty sure that the stand alone service is pretty much the equivalent of having HBO on your cable box,but without the actual cable sub.

I don't know if it will straight stream what's being broadcast, but I think that 's the idea of what they are going for.

REALLY?! I honestly didn't know that.

So they have all the episodes of Dream On and Tenacious D? If that's so,then I can see the appeal, though I still refuse to ever pay for cable again, let alone subscribe to any premium channel that's tacked on with it.

Probably. I don't think they have 100% of every HBO produced program but it's pretty damn close.

Now I don't care about it again.

They have nearly everything. There are a few very old shows that they don't have streaming rights for, I think.

        Also, not everyone has on-demand.

I have Tivo so there's no access to on-demand content from my cable provider (Cox). When I did have a cable box the UI was beyond terrible so I never accessed the on-demand stuff anyways.

Don't worry, when their stand alone service comes out in a few months or so, that doesn't require a cable or satellite subscription, then it'll be all good.

I have a Harmony and it sounds like that would be a pain in the butt to wire up. Plus, I have an HDMI switchbox which would probably goof it all up anyway. :P

HDMI-CEC is precisely why I haven't bought a Harmony. Turning off the TV turns of the PS4 and vice-versa. if my TV is on some random input (e.g., PC-HDMI) I can just push the PS button and it switches the TV input and the receiver, all in one second. XB1's lack of support for this drives me insane.

Cec is such a nice feature I am confused as to how there are moderm hdmi devices that don’t support it. Even the original Raspberry Pi supports it. My only annoyance with my Nuc is the lack of cec support.
