Leonard Nimoy being honored in Elite Dangerous with memorial station
A new memorial stations will be created to honor Leonard Nimoy, who passed away this past week.
Elite Dangerous will be adding a Nimoy Memorial station in its upcoming Wings update (1.2) as a way to honor Leonard Nimoy, who passed away on Friday afternoon.
The Nimoy Memorial station will be placed in the LHS 3006 system “around the only suitably named planet,” Frontier executive producer Michael Brookes says in a forum post. The announcement came just a few days after many Elite Dangerous players took to the game’s forums to suggest the memorial be added to the game.
Adding the Nimoy Memorial station to Elite Dangerous is a great move by Frontier Developments as I’m sure many who play the game have been long-time Star Trek fans, or at least a fan of similar TV series or films and can appreciate Nimoy’s work. I know I’m going to try my best to head to the memorial once the update goes live to show my respects.
