Plex now available on PlayStation consoles

Plex is now available on both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 for all of your personal media-watching needs.

PlayStation users who were envious of their Xbox counterparts for receiving Plex last October will have one less thing to be envious about as Sony is announcing everyone’s favorite media streaming service is now available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Plex Pass members can download Plex for PlayStation completely for free with the application opening up to all in the future, although it’ll be available for a fee for those who don’t have Plex Pass.

Plex is a personal favorite application in the Perez household as not only do I use the service on a daily basis, but I also got my family and friends into the service as well. It does a phenominal job of keeping my personal media nice and neat as it automatically pulls up box art and details of each film, television show, and even anime that I watch. So if you have yet to check out Plex, I encourage you to consider it, especially if you’re a PlayStation user since it just became available today.

Wow, this is expensive just to watch videos on your PS4. I know it'll be free, but it's like having to buy a full featured media player for your iOS device every month.

Plex is meant to be quite good apparently. I prefer xbmc, but I'd consider Plex if I didn't have a lounge pc

I'd be interested to see a comparison with the web client.

My review from my thread on this:
        LoioshDwaggie :
I just gave this a quick test. I notice there's a pull-down issue. For displays that are at 60 hz you can see little hitches during the transitions. It doesn't appear to have the same pull-down quality as the desktop version (which I use on a Mac Mini).

It also takes a bit to start a movie if you're using full Blurays for your source. About 10 seconds. No chapter skips supported and no Info that I could find (I was curious if it could handle DTS-HD, which is something the mac mini CANNOT do).

        L1 rewinds 15 seconds, R1 moves 30 seconds forward
L2 and R2 fast forward by a minute or so, it looks like. I could be wrong I just checked very quickly before heading to work.

Oh SWEEET!!! This is awesome news! I was hoping for this on the PS4 but didn't expect it to just drop out of the sky like that!
