Assassin's Creed movie dated for holiday 2016
Assassin's Creed's film adaptation has been given a firm release date, but that puts it up against a potentially much bigger holiday film.
Assassin's Creed is still set for the big screen, but will be coming a little later than expected.
The Hollywood Reporter (via Game Informer) reports 20th Century Fox has slated the adaptation for December 21, 2016. Previously, it had only been given a wide "summer 2015" window. We expected a delay might occur late last year, when we learned the script was unfinished.
The new date will give it an obstacle much tougher than any Templar, though. It's releasing just one week after first Star Wars spin-off. Depending on how well Star Wars: The Force Awakens is received later this year, a reinvigorated fan base could be more inclined toward lightsabers than hidden blades for their sci-fi action fix.
Michael Fassbender is set to star in the Assassin's Creed adaptation, with Justin Kurzel directing.
