As previously noted, not a lot of people are surviving This War of Mine all the way through to the end. But people are certainly trying and for those folks, developer 11-bit Studios is offering some new wrinkles with today's 1.2 update.

The latest update will open up a new shelter, which players can randomly start each for each playthrough. Also, those that have played the game at least once can now select their starting group of survivors, further customizing their experience. The 1.2 update also adds some bug fixes and improves AI behaviors and animations.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

No I don't think it does, all though I haven't tried it.

I put the heater near my sleeping quarters with that assumption in mind. The sleeping quarters were in the basement, as it was the only non ruined part of the house. Even if it didn't matter, it seemed like the logical place to put it and that is enough for me.

I really want to try this game out, but I think I may be too good of a guy to actually play it.

You can role play it anyway you want. You obviously will have an easy time if you just go murder and steal, but you can do fine by playing as a moral character. On my first play through I did not do anything super wrong I did kill some bandits that were doing bad things and it was more fun and challenging than the next play through where I pretty much just did whatever to see how the game went. Killing and stealing actually made it too easy once you found how to game the system and then the game was boring.

yes but if you do morally bad things like stealing or killing your characters will get depressed and then broken, right? so it's not so easy?

Can you brainwash everyone into thinking it was the right thing?

Sort of, it depends on how you do it. Either way the game is more fun if you just role play it like you really would.

I know you can, but my buddy told me about a part where a soldier goes and rapes a woman. You can make the moral decision to kill him which I would, but he said that was fairly lighthearted compared to other stuff. If so, I'll be in for a trip

It's actually easier if you play it as a good guy.

I've beaten it, but couldn't/wouldn't play it again. I found it really stressful :(
