Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set to get its next paid DLC, the Holodome Onslaught, next week, but there's also some free content headed down the pipe. As previously noted, all players are set to receive Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode and Gearbox has detailed exactly what that entails.

"After you’ve downloaded the update, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode will be unlocked for any character once they have completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50," explained Gearbox content editor Andrew Goldfarb on the Gearbox website. "In UVHM, players can reset their mission progress at any time from the main menu in order to replay multiple times."

All enemies will scale to the highest-level player in the party. Normal foes will get a 1.5x health and shield multiplayer, while badass enemies will scale up to 2.5x. Tougher enemies mean better loot drops, though.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode update will hit Xbox 360 this Thursday, December 11. PC and PlayStation 3 owners will receive it on December 16.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Sounds like they fixed most of the problems with UVHM in BL2, especially elemental weapons. Maybe elemental DOTs will be useful this time around, rather than laughably bad like they were in BL2. Can't count the number of times I set something on fire and watched its health regenerate, just at a slightly slower rate.
