Zombie bashing fans unite, because Dead Island: Epidemic goes into open beta on Steam, free for all users to play, starting today. The open beta comes with a number of gameplay improvements including an all-new PvE mode called Crossroads, designed for both beginners and veteran players. Dead Island: Epidemic's progression, crafting, and loot sytems are also getting substantial overhauls from the previous version, so players don't have to level up each character individually and will receive better drops while playing.

Dead Island: Epidemic is a free-to-play, fast-action, multiplayer hack and slash arena game where players fight using a arsenal of custom crafted weaponry and an array of special powers. Zombies are added somewhere in there too.
