Grand Theft Auto Online experiencing transfer issues on PS4 and Xbox One
New-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 are experiencing issues with transferring GTA Online accounts from last-gen.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is re-releasing onto the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting today, but Rockstar Games is reporting some issues with transferring GTA Online characters from last-gen to current-gen.
Players are reporting an error message saying “No previous Grand theft Auto Online data is associated with your Social Club account” when attempting to transfer their character over. It appears the issue stems from players who haven’t played GTA Online since 2013, according to Rockstar’s Support page.
Rockstar is looking into the situation for accounts that haven’t logged in since 2013. If you’d like to receive an update directly from them, they ask you to subscribe to this particular post where we expect updates regarding this particular issue will be made as soon as they have one.
During my time with GTA 5, I didn’t run into any of these issues. I believe I haven’t logged into GTA Online since 2013 as well, so maybe this issue could be due to the huge wave of players logging in at once? Either way, don’t forget Rockstar asked for a bit of patience this week.
