The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will offer 16 pieces of free DLC on PC, PS4 and Xbox One
CD Projekt Red has announced it will be releasing 16 pieces of free DLC for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt shortly after its release.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will receive free downloadable content through a “Free DLC program” that will begin on February 25th, which is one day after the title’s official release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
A total of 16 pieces of free DLC are planned to be released on a weekly basis that will be delivered in bundles, with each bundle containing two pieces of DLC. The first piece of DLC will feature a Temerian Armor Set, which includes horse armor, and a Beard and Hairstyle Set for Geralt. The following week will bring an alternative look to Yennefer as well as an additional quest contract called "Missing Miners."
The free pieces of downloadable content will be available to any and every owner of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and will be available on each platform the game is available on. Customers also won’t need to pre-order the game in order to receive these free pieces of DLC. In other words, it appears there’s absolutely no strings attached for these 16 pieces of DLC.
We heard of The Witcher 3's upcoming plan to offer free DLC last year. At the time, CD Projekt Red's Marcin Iwinski said the company wanted to see what each plaform holder would allow considering they have different business models. Not all DLC for the game will be free though as Iwinski says the company would expect consumers to pay for larger expansions, so don't go on thinking you'll be getting a completely free ride.
