The Xbox One will be receiving a price cut this holiday season, Microsoft has announced this morning.

The price cut is being referred to as a “special, limited-time promotional offer” which will price the console at $349 starting on November 2. The promotional offer will also include a $50 discount for any console of the consumers’ choice, which includes special edition bundles such as the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Bundle, the Xbox One Special Edition Sunset Overdrive Bundle, and the Xbox One Limited Edition Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Bundle.

This special promotional offer will be valid for the majority of this holiday season as you’ll have between November 2, 2014 until January 3, 2015 to take advantage of it.

This promotion should certainly entice those who have been eyeing picking up an Xbox One for quite some time, and to be honest, it seems this holiday season Microsoft seems to have quite a few worthwhile exclusives when compared to Sony’s lineup.

$349 with a game is a pretty great price point.

No with Kinect is $449 with a game.

The only one that comes with a Kinect is thh "Xbox One Assassin’s Creed Bundle with Kinect", and that'll cost $449. So it still gets the $50 price cut as well.

its pretty much the only thing the original kinect is good for. voice navigation through netflix.

the only kinect games that got any actual play time at our house was Happy Action Theater and Sesame Street TV. Everything else was just frustrating and dumb.

Agreed and agreed. It's a shame Fable: The Journey didn't perform as well as most would have liked. I really wanted to like that game, but the last-gen Kinect was so frustrating.

With this price cut there should be some interesting Black Friday combo deals. I wonder if Sony will respond with a cut, or at least announce a holiday bundle for $400.

I have a feeling Sony will have a response to this. Sure - they're leading the current-gen pack, but they won't letting this holiday go by without a serious fight.

Where are all the holiday bundles? Is seems a few have leaked for Europe but nothing for the States.

GTA5 Bundle for $400 would be a huge seller.

Which is another thing where the heck is all the GTA5 marketing? Game comes out in 3 weeks.

At this point I'm more interested in an Xbox One than PS4. If I want ultra GRAFIX, I have a PC that I'll keep updated. And there's not much on PS4 now that I can't run at better settings on my computer. But the Xbone's library at the moment contains a lot more exclusive software that either won't be on PC ever, or for a long time. I don't care about 900p when I have a solid computer already.

Bloodborne is huge for me, as is whatever Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica pumps out, but those aren't for awhile. I think a 'Bone for a couple of years while the PS4's truly exclusive content cooks is a wise idea, for me.

Uncharted 4 and 1886 (SCE Santa Monica) are both 2015 titles. I think the latter has a February release date, along with Bloodborne.

This can't be a good sign for MS. That is basically two price drops in it's first year of existence? That's not really a great sign. I'm sure they will sell a shit ton of One's though. I'm tempted to pick one up myself for the price.

They were kind of riding the higher priced Bluray players in the market at the time too. Once those reached parity then PS3 dropped in price.

That was also horribly over-priced for it's time and it got a lot of shit for it. It is one of the reasons why the 360 pulled ahead during the generation I think because it took a bit long until the PS3 was more affordable.

They released a non-Kinect version for $100 less (and the separate Kinect for $130). This is the real first price drop since it drops the high end down $50.

          October 28, 2014 6:22 PM

I know this is officially the first actual price drop... But dropping the Kinect was a defeat in itself. So that together with this makes it sound like MS is really struggling with the Xbone.

I don't know - I REALLY like some of the things they're doing with the xbone OS. Plex is a big win for them. I can't even play DLNA videos on my ps4 yet.

        The PS4 OS sucks balls.
