Dead Rising: Watchtower film to star Daily Show's Rob Riggle
Dead Rising: Watchtower, the Sony Crackle-exclusive film, has its star. Former Daily Show reporter Rob Riggle will star as beloved frontman Frank West.
A film adaptation of Capcom's Dead Rising franchise is still set to happen. As recently as a month ago, there was still no solid idea on which of the main characters would star and who would be cast in the starring role. We now have answers to both of those questions, as Frank West will indeed headline the Dead Rising film and he'll be played by former Daily Show correspondent Rob Riggle.
Legendary Pictures (via Polygon) confirms Riggle's starring role in the upcoming film, titled Dead Rising: Watchtower. Riggle's most recent film role was this year's Let's Be Cops. He also has prior experience as a Lieutenant Colonal in the U.S. Marine Corps, which means he has significant experience in dealing with armed conflicts of various sorts.
Furthermore, Capcom-Unity adds that secondary roles will be played by Harley Morenstein of "Epic Meal Time," Aleks Paunovic from This Means War, and Keegan Connor Tracey from Bates Motel and Once Upon a Time.
Tim Carter (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) is writing the script, while Zach Lipovsky (the upcoming Leprechaun reboot) is attached to direct. Dead Rising: Watchtower is slated to hit Sony's Crackle service upon completion.
