Microsoft including a Kinect with the Xbox One in the past caused quite a stir for those who believed their privacy was being invaded. Instead of having your Xbox spy on you, why don’t you have it spy on others within your home with the Homevue HD Video Surveillance System for Xbox.

The Homevue was specially designed for Xbox owners to stay connected with anything they’d like to keep tabs on within their own home. The home video surveillance system connects to your Xbox via plug and play, allowing users to turn on their Xbox and view their camera through the Homevue app. The camera sends HD footage securely to Smartvue’s cloud and can be accessed either through your Xbox or remotely from any computer or smart device around the world. You don’t even need to have your Xbox powered on in order to view footage from the Homevue.

The Homevue features motion detection capabilities, two-way audio and night vision. You can even set it up to receive texts and emails with images as soon as it detects any bit of motion.

The home surveillance camera system is currently seeking funding through Kickstarter where Smartvue is looking to raise $180,000 as their goal. If the project becomes funded, the Homevue can be purchased for just $199.

If you're interested in maintaining the freedom of an open system or even reusing existing PCs in your house, iSpy works, is open source, and lets you use your existing webcams.

Can I repurpose an old smartphone to use its camera as a wireless camera as part of a surveillance system?

Why would a company that makes surveillance software not be able to produce a video in 1080p and at least stereo audio? If this is their only video (I haven't searched around) promoting their product I would say they need a new to invest in some better advertising.
