Following a successful PS4 digital launch, the recently Microsoft-acquired block-building game will hit retail stores soon with a day-one patch.

Not content to just release on every platform under the sun, Minecraft is aiming for availability in every purchasing method as well. The PlayStation 4 version released earlier this month, and now Sony has announced the retail version will be coming October 7.

Just like the digital version, the worlds will be much larger than they were on PlayStation 3. You can also import PS3 saves so you won't have to give up all of your previous progress. The announcement also promises a day-one patch, though it doesn't detail what that will entail. It ends by teasing a Vita version, and impending details on how the cross-buy functionality will work with the PS3 version.

Just last week, Microsoft purchased Mojang for a reported $2.5 billion, but the company explicitly stated it has no plans to stifle Minecraft on other platforms like iOS, Android, and PlayStation.
