Report: Smash Bros. Wii U release date coming Friday
Nintendo could have a big announcement for us with its forthcoming live event this Friday: namely when its big fighting game will come to Wii U.
With Super Smash Bros. set to release on October 3rd on the 3DS, all eyes are now on Nintendo to reveal the release date for the Wii U version of the game. And the good news is, we may not be waiting long to hear just when it is.
Nintendo is planning a live 8-hour Twitch stream of the Wii U version of Smash Bros, among other games, this Friday. Kotaku reports that, according to a GameStop representative at a retailer conference today, part of that stream will include a release date for the console version.
Considering the stream will have a huge focus on Smash, along with other forthcoming games, this news makes sense. We know that it's slated for sometime this year, but we're not sure just how close Nintendo will cut it.
UPDATE: A Nintendo rep is now saying that the release date will NOT be revealed Friday. But this could just be something to throw reports off the trail. Stay tuned.
