Far Cry 4 creative director discusses mythical scenarios
Far Cry 4 will go beyond the modern times, allowing players to live out historical myths. Shacknews learns more in an interview with creative director Alex Hutchinson.
Far Cry 4 is going to be a bit more story-heavy than previous entries to the series, if recent footage is any indication. This includes new worlds filled with their own backgrounds, narratives, and histories. To learn more about this aspect of the game, Shacknews spoke to creative director Alex Hutchinson.
"We worked on establishing more back story for the worlds," Hutchinson told Shacknews. "So we did a lot of research, we wrote fictional religions for our characters, we wrote fictional mythologies for them. Then we thought, 'These are really cool. Why are we just leaving them in documents?' And we thought that maybe we could actually play them."
By meditating on certain tapestry-like items, players will be able to re-live these myths in playable scenarios. This will change up the formula significantly by removing the modern, automatic weaponry that players have become familiar with. Examples of these mythical instances include the new Shangri-La area revealed at Gamescom.
