Madden NFL 15's Billion Dollar Goal

EA Sports is aiming big when it comes to Ultimate Team and other features in its just-released football sim.

EA Sports is betting big time on Madden NFL 15, and for good reason, since it's scoring some very good reviews, highlighting a change in direction in terms of development. However, we didn't know just how much they were betting until Bloomberg filled us in.

That site reported that EA is hoping to surpass the $1 billion mark in sales when it comes to add-on content and DLC for the game, including purchases through the Ultimate Team mode.

EA spokesperson John Reseburg believes the goal is within reach, since previous Madden NFL content managed to grow by 350 percent year-on-year in the financial quarter ending June 30th, with Madden NFL 15 being a "major contributor" to expected growth for the coming year.

Still…a billion? The Madden franchise is quite popular, but that's practically shooting for the moon. We'll have to see what happens. Madden NFL 15 is available now for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

We had 350% growth last year! Surely that's sustainable!

This article is misleading and badly misquotes the source. The source says the following:

"Revenue from extra content for all its games may reach a record $1 billion this year, according to the company. Madden NFL 15, along with other sports titles, will be a “major contributor,” said John Reseburg, a spokesman for EA."

There is no billion dollar goal for Madden 15 or the Madden franchise. Please correct the headline and article.

But that headline doesn't get near the ad impressions.

So basically DLC/ultimate team revenue will reach 1 billion. This is definitely a shitty article if that is the quote they are referencing.
