Swing Copters is the next game from the creator of Flappy Bird

It's more of that addictive Flappy Bird-style action, only now you're going up!

The Flappy Bird phenomenon was something that consumed a large chunk of the populace, including both gamers and non-gamers alike. And though he ended up pulling his game from the App Store, creator Dong Nguyen remained undaunted. In fact, he's back with a whole new game to consume lives and it follows the Flappy Bird model very closely. It's called Swing Copters.

Touch Arcade was the first to try Swing Copters out. Rather than center on the horizontal movement of Flappy Bird, Swing Copters has players floating upwards in an attempt to avoid girders and swinging hammers. It has the same insta-death idea as its predecessor, promising more of the same addictive frustation that users have grown to love and hate.

It should be noted that this is not the other game that Nguyen still has on his agenda. Checkonaut is still in development.

Swing Copters is set to release on the App Store this Thursday as a free download, with a $0.99 price tag to remove the game's ads. To get an idea of how Swing Copters will make you yell profanities in public, check out Touch Arcade's video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
