Assassin's Creed: Unity will include microtransactions
Senior producer promises business model won't make compromises to the core design.
Ubisoft is apparently bringing microtransactions back for Assassin's Creed: Unity, as players will be able to "fast track" certain items and gear with cash.
Ubisoft confirmed the business model at Gamescom this week, but senior producer Vincent Pontbriand assured OXM US that the items won't be necessary to get the full experience out of Unity.
"Companion apps, monetisation, other business models, digital only... We have to be reactive to these things, but not necessarily fundamentally change what we're trying to do," said Pontbriand. "It depends. If we think it fits the gameplay, or the brand itself, the core values, we're willing to take those risks. If not, then not. We're not going to make any compromises."
Assassin's Creed: Unity arrives October 28th for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Although...I have to admit, that the "time saver" packs in AC4 were actually quite good.
That said, they should stop designing the game around hunting for crap around the map. It's basically "filler" game.
*Good* hunting for shit mechanics is Ezio's traversal around all of those architectural marvels. Now *that* was fucking fun. -

Not a lot of meat to this story, but it sounds like the same old stuff EA's been doing for years, and won't have any impact on me for playing the game normally.
I've never really understood the desire to buy things that trivialize the game, often giving you less playtime. To me, the whole point of the game is to collect those things by playing. -
