Tiger Woods returns to video games, thanks to Zynga
The pro golfer will be a part of the new Zynga Sports 365 project.
The last we saw Tiger Woods in video game land, it was heading up EA's The Masters golf series, which he departed soon thereafter due to turbulence in his personal life. While EA will move on with a new PGA-licensed golf game sometime in 2015, it appears Woods is ready to hit the green again, this time with a new game partner.
Zynga has announced a new series titled Zynga Sports 365, which will feature mobile games that focus on football and golf. Woods has been signed on as a partner for the golf property, and should be featured in the mobile release when it arrives later this year.
In addition, Zynga will bring in the National Football League and the NFL Players Inc. for its football property, allowing it to use pro players and their likenesses within it. This marks the first time in quite a while that a company has secured both licenses out of EA's exclusive agreement with the NFL.
"By combining our expertise with the NFL, NFL Players Inc. and Tiger Woods, we can create next-generation mobile football and golf games for consumers around the world," said Zynga COO Clive Downie.
The first games will be developed by Zunga Orlando Studio for mobile devices.
