Neverwinter coming to Xbox One in 2015
Perfect World is bringing its Dungeons & Dragons-based free-to-play MMO to Xbox One next year.
Perfect World first released free-to-play MMO Neverwinter on PC about a year ago and has steadily released content for the game since, including the upcoming Tyranny of Dragons. Now they're looking to expand beyond the PC market and venture forth into consoles. The publisher, in conjunction with Cryptic Studios, announced today that Neverwinter would set its sights on Xbox One and look to release in North America and Europe in the first half of 2015.
According to Perfect World CEO Alan Chen, Neverwinter will retain its premium free-to-play model when it hits Xbox One. Of course, the game will require an Xbox Live Gold membership, which doesn't make it so much a "free" product. Neverwinter will also represent Perfect World's first game released across multiple platforms.
Neverwinter will first land in China later this year, shortly after the Xbox One launches in the region for the first time.
