Creator of Crazy Taxi wants to bring the series to new systems

However, there are two crucial features that he's waiting for.

Kenji Kanno is really good at creating vehicular chaos. If you don't believe us, go check out any given game in Sega's Crazy Taxi series. It's wild, relentless racing fun as you drive customers from location to location, all within an allotted time limit.

Kanno is currently hard at work on a new iOS and Android release, Crazy Taxi: City Rush, which will debut this year. However, he hasn't forgotten about the console crowd, as he really wants to bring the series to Xbox One and PS4. So what's stopping him?

Kenno recently spoke to IGN about what's holding him back from going crazy on a new Crazy Taxi. "I don't know how old I would be when the next one came out, but there are some features I would like to add to new Crazy Taxi games, but I haven't managed to figure out how to do it yet," he said. "This is the first time I've ever told anyone. The very, very first time ever.

"There are two things I want to achieve but I haven’t yet. The first is time changing in the game, but it’s more than a simple day/night cycle. Passengers attitudes, the environments, the whole atmosphere of the game needs to change. I really want how you play the game to transition as time does. I haven’t managed to achieve that to a level I’m happy with yet, but I hope to in future.

"The second aspect is multiplayer. It’s figuring out the best way to do it, which again is something we haven’t done right yet. They’re the two points we’d like to achieve in future, but I haven’t reached the point where I’m satisfied. I’m open to feedback and suggestions!"

So, yeah, it'll be a while before we're careening through San Francisco on new systems. In the meantime, however, City Rush will make its mobile debut in the fall. Crossing our fingers for an Offspring soundtrack…

Would be cool if Crazy Taxi and it's sequel could be brought to all the three latest platforms.

Well, Xbox One is not that necessary actually.

Also someday if we could get Crazy Taxi 4 with as excellent soundtrack as the first games, now that would be something.

Crazy Taxi 3 is kind of lost cause actually, Hitmaker should work with Sega and bring it to Steam for an extra life at retail. Should not be that difficult since it was originally also released for PC.
