Bethesda would like to open the door for QuakeCon attendees to do a good deed and participate in a special blood drive. Organized in conjunction with the American Red Cross, the publisher is hosting "The Good Within Blood Drive" at the convention site of the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX.
Bethesda would like to open the door for QuakeCon attendees to do a good deed and participate in a special blood drive. Organized in conjunction with the American Red Cross, the publisher is hosting "The Good Within Blood Drive" at the convention site of the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX.
The blood drive will take place on Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19 from 11AM to 5PM in the Hilton Anatole's Topaz room. Donors that are 17 years of age or older and meet the eligibility requirements will receive a special The Evil Within chill pack upon donating blood.
"The Red Cross is grateful for Bethesda Softworks' invitation to host a blood drive during such a critical time," said American Red Cross External Communications Manager Jan Hale in the issued press release. "The summer months are a particularly difficult period opportunities to help save lives."

If you're a woman you have to be 5'5" and 150lb to donate but a man can donate at 5'1"/130lb? That 5'5" rule rules out pretty much every woman in my office.

Probably has more to do with the requirement of not having lived in an area with mad cow.
"Persons who have spent long periods of time in countries where "mad cow disease" is found are not eligible to donate."

My wife's family lived in England during one the mad cow outbreaks and can't ever donate blood now.-

I believe England has had like 2 or 3 outbreaks in the last 30 years. That's enough for me to go along with their recommendation. More important to me is that it also means if our kids ever need a transfusion they probably wouldn't take my wife's blood. Come to think of it, I should probably ask our doc about that. Maybe I need to store some blood or some. . .
