Alright, here's a challenge. Let's attempt to get through one Mighty No. 9 post without making any references to Mega Man. Ready? Let's go!

New video footage for creator Keiji Inafune's upcoming platformer, Mighty No. 9 released earlier today, showing off some more early gameplay footage.

The new footage was first released to Kickstarter backers. The trailer shows some new old-school platforming footage, revealing more pieces of Mighty No. 2 and 5's water and artillery-themed stages that originally debuted last month. This includes showing off new enemies and more of Mighty No. 9's abilities, like air dashes and powerful cannon shots. It also shows the game's stage start animation for the first time. It sure looks familiar, just like the stage start phrase for a certain Blue Bomber's game.

(Ok, so I lost that challenge. Better luck next time.)

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
