Spry Fox is set to release its next puzzle game. The roguelike hybrid known as Road Not Taken is set to be released on August 6 on PC and PlayStation 4, giving players their opportunity to explore a frozen world and save an entire town anguished by lost children. Those hoping to save the town in a more handheld environment will have to wait for the Vita version to release later this fall.

Shacknews recently had a chance to try out Road Not Taken at the IndieCade booth at E3. Spry Fox's new game sees players controlling a mysterious spectre looking to help a forlorn town by recovering their lost children. The idea is to clear barriers by matching objects on a grid to advance through frozen forest areas, while watching out for dangers like vicious bears and bees. Objects can only be picked up and tossed directly forward, so players will need to think about where they toss their objects and make sure they don't end up getting stuck.

Spry Fox released a trailer that's... a little strange, to be quite honest. But I guess that impression is to be expected when the trailer centers around an animated Hulk Hogan-like caricature. Give it a look below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
