Steam Summer sale kicks off today
The annual Steam Summer Sale began today, offering the yearly steep discounts on PC games.
It's that time of year again. Valve kicked off the Steam Summer Sale today, offering its usual spate of deep discounts on semi-recent PC games and indies. It will run through June 30, with daily sales, flash sales community choice votes.
A few of the notable daily deals include Dead Rising 3 for $37.49, Day Z for $25.49, and the Witcher 2 for $3.99. A flash sale Dead Island: Riptide, DMC Devil May Cry, Hotline Miami, and Mirror's Edge for at least 75% off each. Plus several games can be sorted by prices, under $5, under $10, and the top sellers. Check out the Steam Store for the full listings.

It's not looking too bad this time but Steam played off the massive popularity of their sales last time by offering poor discounts and not a great variety of games, and people didn't buy much. This time it looks like they've realised it's price that makes people buy things not the hype of there being a sale on.

The trick to the summer sale is not to buy things when they first go on sale at like 25% or so, but wait to see if there's a flash sale of something like 50-80% later. If you're interested in tracking when that happens, we made an app called Notivo that sends you a push notification when a particular game goes on sale. notivo.com/download
