Outside of what is already known I don't think we will see many surprises, hopefully I'm wrong. I do think we will at least get a short teaser for the new Zelda.
Would love to see a Luigi's Mansion remake with online coop announced. I believe next-level games are working on a new title for Nintendo, but may be a bit early for any showing.

What exactly does it take to make people happy? Sony and MS both spent a huge amount of time showing a variety of video games. Did you want them to send a hooker to your house to blow you while watching in order to make it an acceptable experience? Fucking gamers are the worst, I hate every single one of you all fuck goddamit fuck you guys fuck you all

The conferences themselves were both fine (although the free2play and TV segment in the Sony conference ground an otherwise awesome conference to a screeching halt). I think people are probably more pissed about the actual information conveyed - all three (Nintendo conf just ended) had great games but they were all 2015 which sucks.

That was a great presentation and I think much better looking than what Microsoft and Sony did this year. I hope all 3 companies prerecord their presentations for next year.
I only wish Nintendo's presentation was longer. They got me hyped and then ended it before really startling me with HUGE announcements. It also really shows how few third party titles there are for WiiU as well. :/ -

So they're explaining the Amiibo thing right now, it looks like it's just an AI representation of that character, which gains experience over time. I suppose it doesn't really affect the base Smash game then, as you don't have to load up one of the Amiibo characters if you don't want to. Sigh of relief?
-
-
-
But it's an AI character, it's not the character you're playing as. So if you go to your friend's place and both of you play as Link, you both will still be playing as the exact same character. Apparently if you load up an Amiibo it might be able to assist you too? But again, no one is forcing you to load up an Amiibo. Just play the regular game.
-
You can play as Amiibo characters, but you don't have to and just play with the characters in the base game if you want. The Amiibo characters are the only ones who level up, have stats, and that you can customize the skills. But again, it's completely optional and you can just play with all the base characters available in the game if you want.
-
-
-
Yeah but, no one is forcing anyone to use an Amiibo, so if I want to purchase a Wii U + Smash it will essentially be the same style game I am used to from previous iterations. Don't have to deal with all the Amiibo crap, and won't be missing out on characters or getting my face stomped by Amiibo people. Maybe the online will be screwed up though, who knows.
-
-
-
I'm personally not defending, just trying to clarify that (hopefully) it doesn't affect the base Smash Brothers game. Don't have to buy Amiibos to get characters, or upgrade my characters. You buy them and watch them fight, essentially. Which I won't do and I will still get to play Smash just as I always have.
-
Fleecing implies cheating of some kind. Nintendo wants to enter a strong market and they have enough differentiating factors to make money with their take on the figurine-game genre. Most of us will not buy an Amiibo, and we won't be worse off for it because the games we buy will remain full-featured, not gated behind this figurine system.
There's no duplicity here. Nintendo wants to compete in a lucrative market.

I would say that Nintendo only had the best show IF you don't consider the indie games. The indie games coming to Xbox and Playstation look fantastic. But yeah, I'm more interested in Nintendo's first party stuff than another third person shooter or Assassin's Creed.
I would be excited by Yarn Yoshi, but I'm a afraid the level design and challenge won't be on par with the visuals. The latest Yoshi's Island on 3DS really disappointed on that level. I'd say the Kirby game and the Squid/Goo game looked the coolest.
-
they do the "good" thing of letting their software teams release "when it's done" but can't get their software and hardware releases aligned as a result. This wouldn't be insurmountable if they successfully filled the gaps with 3rd party releases and indie games but they still don't seem to understand what priorities are for developers outside Nintendo. They seem to have misread the 360 playbook and thought they could just release a year ahead of the pack and just get a large install base for free in that time.

Nintendo may be having a hard time with the Wii U, but they're not in "dire financial straits". They are no where close to that. Sony actually is, but you probably didn't know that. Nintendo is worth more than all of Sony and could continue to lose money at their current course and still be okay for the next couple decades.
-
-
Again, Nintendo may be having a tough time, but their financial issues are really of no concern at this time. They're consolidating shares too so shareholders aren't an issue either. Nintendo dropped like .. what 300 million? Sony dropped 6 billion. I honestly don't know what Sony makes on PlayStation. They're not in trouble there though they're probably not making anything on it since its the beginning of a generation. I don't know how the numbers work there. I haven't been paying attention.
The only point I'm making is that Nintendo is fine. They'll push a few big franchises out to stop the hemorrhaging and probably end the generation far better than people expect. A disappointment, maybe, but not a disaster.-
-
Nintendo gives more steady updates than everyone else. You had to have seen this coming giving all the Nintendo Directs they do. Last year they didn't even do a presentation for E3 which was probably a mistake. I'm sure they'll announce other stuff later in the year or give bigger updates during their Nintendo Direct monthly updates.

Nintendo is hardly in dire financial status, anyone that believes that has allowed themselves to given in to sensationalism by uneducated tumblr bloggers.
Nintendo is making money hand over fist on the 3DS/DS and still continues to sell Wii U hardware (not as much as they would like, but they are selling). Nintendo doesnt have
Lets put this into perspective:
Nintendo has roughly 7,000 employees ww
Microsoft has about 102,000 ww
Sony 147,000 ww
With Nintendos earnings, regardless of projected profit lost, are doing just fine financially.

I have a theory about this game now after seeing this.
Big Xenoblade ending spoilers! This game takes place on the new planet Shulk creates at the end.
Back to gameplay: Collectibles are back. Combat seems very similar. They mentioned that you cannot heal your other party members unless you get a "Soul Voice". That's the party boost in Xenoblade where you have to time hitting the B button.-

Xenoblade Ending Spoilers It seems that Xenoblade did take place in our universe, but Zanza destroyed it. It was recreated with him and Meyneth as the new gods. When Shulk defeated Zanza, he had the choice to create a new universe, and chose to remake it without the need for gods. I'm thinking that this planet is the one Shulk created. We do know Shulk or Zanza are in the game based on the initial reveal.

From what I can gather, with regards to Smash Bros, you can buy a figure of a character and use them in game. The figures themselves will level up, have stats, and you can customize their move sets. You can also completely ignore this aspect of the game and just play the base game with the base characters, so people who are screaming P2W need to calm down.
-
-
agreed. It's like raising a chia pet, if anything. I'm pretty confident that 1.) there will be a "No amiibo's" option, 2.) That if one player has an amiibo and the other doesn't, that the game will allow you to have a secondary character as equal as theirs, but that character won't keep it's stats. Nintendo's not going to ruin Smash Bros with pay to win and then destroy tournaments worldwide.
