Falling Skies show adapts into strategy game
The TNT show Falling Skies is being adapted into a strategy game from Little Orbit. It's coming to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U this fall.
Falling Skies is a TNT sci-fi drama about a small band of survivors joining the human resistance to save the planet from an alien threat. Little Orbit, apparently seeing the vastly underserved market for such a concept, has announced it will adapt it into a video game. Falling Skies is coming to PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U this fall.
The most surprising bit of the announcement is that this adaptation of the 2nd Mass' adventures will actually be a strategy game. You'll upgrade your characters and engage in tactical combat to take on Mechs, Skitters, and Harnessed Humans. Objectives may change on the fly, and maps will be randomized to keep the battles fresh. In short, it sounds a whole lot like XCOM, but we'll reserve judgment on that front until we see some screenshots or footage.
“Our goal for Falling Skies is to recreate the humanistic elements from the television series so that players can grow with the characters as they play through intuitively designed strategies,” said Little Orbit president Matt Scott. “We want to bring that same character driven storyline derived from the series to the game all while making it easy to navigate for every player.”
