Respawn co-founder starts mobile developer
Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella has started up another studio, mobile developer Nuclear Division. He says he will remain on at Respawn full-time, and his involvement at the new company will be as an advisor and board member.
Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella has founded another developer, this one with a focus on mobile. Nuclear Division is the joint venture of Zampella and Larry Pacey of WMS Gaming, but Zampella plans to remain on full-time at Respawn. His work at Nuclear Division will be as "an investor, advisor, and board member."
“It’s a device that I play on because I always have it with me,” Zampella told VentureBeat. “It's always connected. You’re engaged with it. There’s something you can do with that. I’m not saying one is better than the other, in terms of console versus mobile. It’s a different gaming experience. Both interest me.” He said mobile is growing so fast it would be "silly to ignore."
Right now Nuclear Division is said to be working on tools for a new platform, along with games to showcase those tools. It began recruiting employees in January, but may grow to 50. Pacey said it is basing its focus on the "core gamer."
