Diablo 3 may get another expansion, Blizzard survey hints
A Blizzard survey is gauging interest in another expansion to Diablo 3.
Now that Reaper of Souls is behind them, Blizzard is wondering: do you want some more? A survey sent to select Diablo 3 players is testing the waters on another expansion.
A poll captured by a user on NeoGAF (via GameSpot) gauges interest in a second expansion on a five-point scale, ranging from "not at all" to "extremely" interested. Given the generally positive reaction to Reaper of Souls, it seems likely that Blizzard will get a resounding "yes" to their question--especially since the voter pool is made up of Diablo 3 fans.

Before they do this, I hope they kinda round out RoS. It's good, but I think this guy makes a lot of valid points about the state of it (and really, the loot): http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/12673847578

I still feel like a newb at this game but I kind of agree with that post. I find myself splitting hairs over a legendary and a rare for the same slot, all the time. It shouldn't be that way. A legendary should be "holy fuck this is going to OWN!"
In anycase I still love playing this game, it is thoroughly addicting.-
The problem is that you have to dramatically cut the legendary drop rate or the player won't use anything else.
Legendary are slightly better at the median than the median rare plus they look cool plus give you crafting mats plus give you transmorgs.
What the tldr post is saying is that Blizzard should pour its effort into balancing gear that less that 1% of the player base will get. Because if something is unbalanced then you know the forums will be super reasonable about it.-
Players in T3 and above are pretty much using all legendaries already.
The guy is talking about the super-late game play where the only good legendaries are ones with special affixes that enable certain styles of play. The generic "slightly better rare" legendaries don't offer anything special and so aren't used unless you haven't seen a drop.
Those legendaries are, however, super-useful when leveling up and getting better gear just like rares. -

This is exactly how it's designed. There are a shitload of rares that drop, probably several hundred times more than legendaries, and they're cheaper to modify to boot. So you get a ton of nearly best-in-slot rares that make your average legendary seem thoroughly mediocre, because they have stats that are at best 20% better, and if they have a "special" stat then it's partly counteracted by the fact that that stat usually takes the place of another stat.
Now, granted, if literally every stat you have is suddenly increased by 20%, then your character will be much more than 20% more powerful, but it still has the effect of making legendaries feel mostly overwhelming.
I just think they need more gradations in the loot.-
Special affixes take the place of a secondary stat that's largely irrelevant except for monks going with OWE builds and people trying to safely get into Torment-6.
More gradations in loot won't change anything. This is just fundamentally how random loot based games work. The alternative is WoW where you have gated, tiered zones with specifically itemized loot.-
Speaking of special affixes, I got a hilarious hand me down for my WD. Homing + Exploding Frogs. That's gotta be one of the craziest special affixes I've seen. I am not very fluent in WD, but I tried the frogs and they run around randomly. This makes them hop straight at enemies!!! Too damn funny.
In other news, the Haunt of Vaxo neck is also hilarious. holy shit those guys can be triggered regularly if you have a stun, and they come out MEAN AS FUCK and just start kicking ass. haha. lots of fun loot in the game!

Hasn't that always been the case though? Even in D2 expac, unless you happened to get one of the rarest rune words ever or something, the gear stopped progressing eventually. What was that ultra rare rune, Zod? I can't remember. It had something like a 0.00000000000000000000001% drop rate. I wonder how many have legitimately dropped in a D2 game since the xpac release.
