Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, Bandai Namco's free-to-play take on the fighter, will be available on PS3 today. Unlike Tekken Revolution, Lost Swords is a single-player only affair. It also changes the core gameplay rather drastically by introducing a new elemental-based system. Weapons can be imbued with specific effects, like wind and fire. Players will have to select which weapons to take into battle in order to give them the edge for victory. By going on quests, players will be able to collect items that can be used to personalize your fighters and potentially give them better stats. Being a free-to-play game means that these items will be for sale too, of course. The game will be available for download once the PlayStation Store is updated today. By logging in within the first four weeks, players will receive a special set of bonus items as a thank you.

Single player only?!Wow,talk about cutting the legs off of the long term fun of your game.

Wonder if they are going to make the MP a pay service.I could see them having something in there where you pay a certain amount of money for credit equivalent to play MP.

I might not download it at all, if it doesn't at least have local multiplayer.
