Mario Golf: World Tour offers Nintendo's first DLC Season Pass
Mario Golf: World Tour will signal another step from Nintendo into the DLC, with a season pass that will grant a discount on three packs. Each pack has two courses and an extra character, and buying the season pass grants you a bonus character as well.
Mario Golf: World Tour is Nintendo's next step down the slippery slope of DLC. The upcoming 3DS game will offer a season pass, with three packs planned at $5.99 apiece, or bundled together for $14.99.
The Mushroom Pack will launch on May 2 alongside the game. The Flower Pack will follow later in May, and the Star Pack will come in June. Each features two new 18-hole courses, and a new playable character: Toadette, Nabbit, and Rosalina, respectively. Altogether, it will amount to 108 new holes, nearly doubling the 126 present in the regular game. Trial Tournaments will be available to let players test the downloadable holes before purchase.
Opting to go with the season pass will also grant you an extra bonus character, Gold Mario. He has a Golden Flower shot that nets you coins for every yard it travels. The Gold Mario character will also be available separately for purchase, once all of the other packs have been released.
“We're letting fans expand their experience with Mario Golf: World Tour," said Nintendo's sales VP Scott Moffitt, in the announcement. "Some players might be content hitting the links on the numerous courses already included with the game, while others will appreciate the option of being able to add to their fairway fun with new courses and characters."
